What buyers ask us most: how buying a premium .com works, how payment and transfer are handled, and what happens after.
Buying a name
What am I buying?
You're acquiring the domain name. The current website presents the name's possibilities and is not included unless expressly agreed. Any additional content, files or accounts included in your purchase are identified separately.
How is the price set? Can I make an offer?
Each name is priced individually. If a listing shows a price, that's the asking price. If it says "Price on request," ask and we'll send it. You're welcome to make an offer; we review every offer individually.
Can I pay over time?
Often, yes. Depending on the name, we can discuss a payment plan or another structure. Ask on any listing.
Is my inquiry confidential?
Yes. We don't share your name or company with anyone without your permission, and we're happy to sign an NDA.
Can I buy through my company, a broker or an agent?
Yes. Tell us who will own the name, and we'll set up the purchase in that name.
Payment and transfer
How do payment and transfer work?
Through a trusted escrow service such as Escrow.com. You pay into escrow, we transfer the domain to you, and escrow releases the payment once you confirm the name is in your account.
How long does the transfer take?
The transfer can take as little as 12 hours, depending on communication on both sides. A move between registrars can take up to a week.
Who pays the escrow fee?
We split it with you.
What happens to the website on the domain now?
It presents the name's possibilities and isn't part of the sale unless agreed. Once the domain is yours, you point it wherever you like.
After you buy
What does the personalized roadmap include?
Your purchase includes an optional personalized roadmap: a short intake, concise written recommendations tailored to your plans for the domain, and a strategy session of up to 45 minutes if useful. One email exchange is included to clarify the recommendations. There is no additional fee and no obligation to purchase other services.
Can I use my own team?
Yes. You can use your own developers, marketers and advisers. If you choose to receive a roadmap, you can share it with them. You do not need to purchase any further services.
Do I have to buy any other services?
No. Any additional development, advertising or PR work is optional and separately agreed.
Names that aren't listed
Can you help me get a name that isn't in your collection?
Yes. Many great .com names aren't listed for sale, but that doesn't mean they're out of reach. Tell us the name you have your eye on, or what you're building, through Find my brand. We'll find out whether it can be acquired and what it would take, and we'll tell you plainly if it isn't realistic.
Find my brand →Will the owner know who's asking?
Not unless you want them to. We contact owners discreetly, on your behalf.
What does that help cost?
It depends on the name and the work involved. We agree the fee with you before any work begins. Our first look at whether a name is reachable is free.
What if the owner won't sell?
Not every owner will. If a name isn't realistic, we'll tell you plainly and suggest alternatives, including names from our collection.
Why a premium .com
Should we wait until we've raised or grown?
You can, and many companies do. The trade-off: a name tends to cost more once a well-known, well-funded company is the one asking, and switching later means changing everything that carries your old name. If the right name is within reach now, getting it early is usually simpler.
Is .ai or .io fine for an AI company?
.ai has become a credible choice for AI products, and plenty of strong companies use it. The same name on .com is still the address most people guess first, and it carries weight with customers outside tech.
Will a premium .com help our search rankings?
Not on its own. A domain name isn't a ranking shortcut. What a strong name does is make you easier to remember, say, type and share.
Will a premium .com guarantee results?
No. A great name helps people take you seriously. It doesn't replace a good product or sound marketing, and we'd rather say that plainly.
Do these domains get traffic?
Traffic varies by name. Where we have verified figures, the listing shows them. Ask about any name and we'll share what we have.
Selling a name
I own a premium domain. Can you list it?
Possibly. We represent a small number of names selectively. Tell us about yours through List your domain.
